The Twitterverse has erupted with criticism of Buttigieg, much of it aimed at the idea that a man would take two months of paid leave at taxpayer expense just a few months after being on the job. Having fathered nine children myself, I know a little something about what is involved in welcoming a newborn. I’ve taken a little time off – a few days, maybe a week – with each birth to help my wife as she recovered from delivery and to begin to get to know the little one. But unlike Buttigieg, I never had a government sugar daddy to pay me to stay at home for two months.

My criticism of Buttigieg’s actions is not about taking paid paternity leave, as excessive as it was – after all he just took advantage of the largess the government offered him. My criticism is more foundational. The left is celebrating Buttigieg and his “husband” because they are homosexual men adopting children, but this is not a matter for celebration at all. While I am sure that the two men will do all they can to provide a loving and prosperous home for the children, they can never provide the children what they truly need – the love of a mother. Buttigieg has been focused on what he wants, and the left celebrates him obtaining his objective. But the real focus in this debate should be on what the child needs, and at the core of that is the love of his married father and mother.

NOM has fought for the rights of children to experience the love of a mother and father whenever possible. The left constantly criticizes us for refusing to go along with the LGBT community’s narrative that “any two will do.” (Actually, many LGBT advocates want to allow multiple people to be “married” to each other.) But we believe that marriage is the union of one man and one woman, and it was instituted by God for the good of the couple, but especially for the good of children. Please help us continue to fight to restore marriage to our nation’s laws and to elevate it in our culture.

A Florida pastor and a local teacher were among 125 people arrested in a 20-day human trafficking sting that resulted in the rescue of four women and a 17-year-old, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office announced Monday. Israele, straordinaria scoperta: antica spada crociata ritrovata sul fondo del mare



Incredibile ritrovamento in Israele: si tratta di una spada crociata lunga un metro, «ripescata» da un subacqueo sul fondo del mare al largo della Carmel Coast, in israele.
